Darin "Matinik" Garness

Biography

Darin graduated from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Academy after 618 hours of police training in 1988.  During his time he has worked in the Elite Gang Unit, K-9 unit and is currently working as a Sergeant in the Air Unit. Darin has been a Defensive Tactics Instructor for LVMPD for the last 16 years and has taught Police Tactics to thousands of police officers over the years.  He started his Martial Arts training over 25 years ago.  Darin is a former divisional champion stick fighter for the 2004 World Filipino Martial Arts Association, which was held at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.  Darin was a senior instructor for CKI. In 2005 Darin became a full instructor in Jeet Kune Do under Professor Hargrave from the World Jeet Kune Do Federation. Darin is now a senior instructor with Filipino Mixed Martial Arts, Laban Sa Lahat System and was promoted to Black Belt 3rd degree January 2007.
